I looked into the shadowy
face of evil and who did I see?
I didn’t see monsters—just you
and me.
I looked into the shining
face of good who did I see?
I didn’t see the saints—just you
and me.
Where does evil and good reside?
It is easy to point to the
obvious choice.
But in you and me it hides
and comes out to play
through fear, prejudice
and pride, or in caring,
listening, and opening
our minds.
