Future coming as

distant glowing thing beyond 

the touch of mind’s trembling hand.

 

Seeming to crawl but hurtling 

towards us and away, and elusive,

even in imagination’s perfect space.

 

Future is present and past,

living as shapeshifter among us 

and becoming the agent of inevitability.
