The vulnerable are weeping

with tears of blood, dropping

with Christ’s blood that was shed

long ago, and draining their bodies

to purge the horror of memories

that come like vampires to

suck their blood and whisper in

the sucking moment that this will never

go away while life remains

and tears fall in the troubled living.
