Bag of chemicals
That is me.

And in this bag
I feel the joy
Of this life
And the wonder
In the living,

I didn’t choose to live but…

All that I am
Is now in
The impulses
That thread through
This watery bag
And connect me
To the world
And to others who
Feel as I do.

This bag of chemicals
That is me
Can only last
A short time,
A flash in the
Unfolding universe
Somewhere
Between the singularity
And the end.

But, oh, what a
Marvellous flash
Is me! A never to
Be repeated
Being that
Sprung from
Sperm and egg
And will return
To the earth
From whence
It came.
