You wrote for the seeking heart,

you wrote for the troubled soul;

you challenged our unthinking minds.

in words authentic,

through tunes rendered slow.

 

You lit the dark,

you darkened the light;

and you saw the shades

of humanity’s strange ways,

in honesty, not spite.

 

We will not stop listening,

we will read your thoughts anew;

you have left us these treasures

from the haunting soul of truth.
