I want to have two free hands
to touch the world,
to create and be open to find
new shapes and ways of thinking.
And in this space of words
I have these free wild hands,
to make, but only here,
only in my private space of art.
Elsewhere, in the spaces that
are not mine to own,
my hands are rope bound,
or directed like a marionette.
But then I leave these closed spaces
and come home to imagination,
and these free and wistful hands
begin their urgent work again.
