Death is my
close companion
and my life-long friend
who accompanies me
on this journey and trek
we call life.
Death is always present,
and ever vigilant
in being loyal and devoted
to the cause that
is the adoration of my life.
No matter what life
may bring and offer
in this banquet of
sweet and bitter fruit,
death sits in its
chair beside me
playing the game
and sharing in the spoils.
Death,
how can I ever
thank you enough
for the rich companionship
you have given me
over the years;
and how can I repay you
for the devotion
you have shown
and the eternity
that you bring.
