I await the year ahead
with dread and anticipation:
in what I have to do
in all itscomplexity and in
all I will achieve in the
doing and through the challenge.

This is the life I live: hard
work and the pressures that
fall from a height and the joy
of contribution and making a
future that is the legacy I
leave when I am gone.

So little time, and in the
heat of the battle I will remind
myself that this chance is
here only once, so take it
in and savour it and make it
all it can be with all the work,
the dread, the anticipation, the
successes, the failures and
the tiredness that will acompany
this short trek with its end in sight.
