Waiting on a rainy day,

but not really waiting

at all, for in the drops

and dull skies there is

an interval of watching

as the moisture refreshes

the dry crusty ground.

Seeing the brown tinged

plants come back to green

hue once more and the birds

frolicking and digging, and

you are reminded of a better

waiting: stillness and awe

caught in nature’s turning.
