The cow eats peacefully

from the green daubed lush

and generous grass

that offers itself

fully and freely

to become part

of the cow,

part of the flesh

and the bones

of its short existence,

till it too becomes

part of the flesh

and the bones

of carnivores,

as they eat

a generous serving

of roasted meat balls.
