In her mind,

in her soul,

through her dreams,

she looked

beyond this world

to another:

one without

the screaming

reality of pain,

and the weight

of expectations

that held her down

and tied her up.

 

She imagined

a place free

and feather gentle

where the tyranny

of this man’s world

gave way to the

grand dream

of being alive,

and finding all

that her girl’s heart

wanted to find.
