Impermanence

Permanence is an illusion,

like shimmering horizons in

the desert or truthfulness

from partying with magic

mushrooms; and the sober

fact of change, movement

and dissolution comes to all

those who too easily pin their

certain hopes that this and that

will always stay the same.

Live today, for tomorrow is as reliable

as the promises of politicians,

or the fidelity of one with a

wandering eye; live now, and think

not too far ahead, for all the plans

of certain futures are subject to

twists and turns and outrageous ends.
