You say you trust in god

but where is he now in

in the doom and desolation

of your obsession that kills

without cause or favour

in a mindless lingering pattern

that spins in perpetual motion

and is dressed up in

the clothes of freedom

that you put on without

care or thought or reason?

 

Where is he now? Where in this agony?

 

You speak of Jesus and

hollow his name from

Church steeples and call

yourself a Christian nation;

but have you put away the sword

like in Gethsemane

and turned your weapons

into ploughs so you can till

the soil of peace and change?

 

Have you? Can you?

 

When will you lose this

national addiction and give away

what you think is freedom

but is really no less, no less,

no less than destruction?
