How strange and weird

be the human race,

for it be full with direst cruelty,

and yet therein also lies waiting

such beauty and gentle grace.

 

For we have killed innocence

and maimed and raped each

other and this precious land;

but in this same body of disgrace

therein also lies the beating heart

of passion, hope and forgiveness.
