I had my granddaughter in
my arms today, resting her
head on my shoulder, and
what I felt was connection
and love so simple and
pure, undiluted by anything
of this world, that I wanted
to stay in this gentle place
and be present with her as
nothing more than a grandfather
who discovers life in a child.
