It is a privilege,

a privilege indeed,

to use those words 

as open prayers,

to weigh them heavy 

in human minds,

and to sink them 

deep in hearts 

too soft to bear.

 

Tear they might at

vulnerable flesh but

knit they will the wounds

of life’s long distress;

for these words are

inspiration’s sword

and love’s gentle hands 

working together to 

scourge the unjust cruel 

and lift the weak to a 

better place above the cross.
