I am the one who
waits when no one
is coming, and I am
the one who sees
the flashing beacon
in the middle of
the night when all
the rest are asleep.

I am on watch for
humanity because
those who should be
looking have turned
their back on the
proper way.

I see ahead, and I
see behind, and I
serve the cause that
has always been there
across the gains and
losses forged in time.
