Everyone speaks
of fairness.
Governments.
Lobbyists.
Organisations geared
to defend rights.
Even those aligned
with profit.
The ordinary people
hidden in houses
and going about lives
the best way they can.

What a troubled
little word it is.

It is a caged animal
on show managed by
keepers who seem to
know what they are doing,
but the animal is
still caged.

What would it be like
if we opened the cage
and set it free?

Who would it really sit with
and where would it
be seen?

Who would it ravage
and tear apart that
seemed so safe before?

Maybe it wouldn’t want to
leave at all but come back to
its cage where it is
fed and managed
and put on display to
show everyone that
fairness can be seen
and here is the proof.
