Don’t think too highly of me,

as if I’m some guru or Saint,

for I know my ordinariness too

well to think that I’m

something special or unique.

 

No, indeed.

I am a man of ordinary passions

and terrible doubts

and wonderings about who I am

and where my life will go.

 

I share that humanness with you,

and while I may at times,

with inspirational voice, share

my supposed wisdom

and give the answers

that sponsors hope,

I remain a man struggling

like you to find that path that

will take me to the point of it all.
