I want be a simple man,
not opaque or clouded
by the dark space of doubt.
I want to be a true man,
not filled with a double life
and leading truth astray.
I want to be a loyal man,
not shifting and sliding
but constant like a rock.
I want to be a spiritual man,
not driven by self and guile
but by wholesome enlightenment.
I want to be a loving man,
not variable in affection
but warm and full of grace.
I want to be a thinking man,
not dulled by popular culture
but reflective and intelligent.
I want to be thinking, loving,
spiritual, loyal, true and simple.
But that ain’t easy, for I am flawed.
