What tribal and territorial
creatures we are;
yet we tell ourselves neat stories
of civilisation and culture
that seem to convince us
that we are more than
creatures among creatures,
that we are progressive
and scoped universal;
but the tribal and the instinct
to control our treasured patch remain,
look around and tell me I’m wrong.
