If I struggle, then you are one

with me; if I cry then

these are your tears.

 

If I long for more

than this life can give me,

then you are like me in

dreaming for another shore.

 

If I grow weary and the load

is more than I can carry,

join with me in as pall bearers to

to a destiny I cannot know.

 

For I am human with all this

weight and all this joy, and

so much to give, even as I take,

 

Join me, come with me, in this

humanity that must be lived in

all its shifting colours and shades.

 

Don’t hold back on the greatest cause,

the cause of happiness, the cause of

living, breathing, loving, feeling pain,

opening out to the beauty that is life.
