I saw a rainbow,
driving home.
It stretched in its perfection
across the drizzling sky,
shimmering into the water.
Like Poseidon’s dream
Its effortless prism
of colour
invaded the sky.
It was beyond
the will of human kind
to create
or destroy:
giving when it will
and going when it wants
to stay no more.
Its colours
and delicious curves,
permanent and temporal,
strike my grey day;
sparking my dull mood
with an epiphany.
And I laugh,
oh how I laugh,
a delicate little
ironic laugh.
