In an instant

her life was

extinguished,

crushed,

buried in

ripping metal

and cracking glass.

 

In that instant

between the vibrant living

and the stillness of dying,

that instant

when eyes blink

and it is done,

a life lived fully

and a person

loved widely

was gone.

 

Just in an instant

that could have gone

that way or this

in the fabric of time,

in the mysterious scheme of the universe.

 

Just in an instant.
