I can never say what life will bring,
or which way it will turn, this way or
that, for all I can know is that I’m living
now and will be living till the time I die.
We strive for certainties and wish to believe
that change won’t come too quick or
sweep all that we’ve known away, but such
desire to hold what we have now is no more
certain than the strength of the prevailing wind.
I shall get up in the morning and sip my coffee
and say that none of this is mine for all shall
pass away, so I drink my coffee and enjoy its
taste and feel the morning sun on my skin as
I turn towards the concerns that drive this single day.
