There are dark days
of sadness that
weigh as heavy
as concrete
and stay
hardened and crusted
till the softening
solution of kindness
can break it down
and slowly erode it away.

But even kindness
and the gentle force of love
cannot fully remove the concrete:
just a little remains
as a reminder
that sadness is always
there living and sitting
as a troubling foundation to
happiness and joy.
