This bulbous collection
of blood, muscles,
sinews, bones,
brain,
skin and organs,
sits as a
circumspect pool
of living water:
splattering along
and trudging
on an uncertain path
from emergence
in fertilisation and birth
to dissolution
in death.
With fleshly eyes that
look at stars
and exist from stars,
this body
reaches for life in a
tiny interval
of time
on the fragile
skin of a rock
spinning relentlessly
in the cold darkness of space.
Filled with desires
and suffuse with
urges,
this corporeal thing
treads the boards
of the world
as object and being:
feeling, depending,
connecting,
experiencing,
and being aware of itself
as a body,
as a sentient collection
seeping with mystery.
