His poetic words still delight
And puzzle teasingly
Just as they did back then,
And his human stories of
Love, betrayal and justice,
Told through a rich parade
Of flawed and heroic characters,
Sting and challenge now
Across the changing expanse
Of time and place,
Linking cultures and histories
That at once seem distant
And yet are united
In that ever universal theme:
That we are and always were human,
And remain mortals who desperately
Seek the divine in our
Troubled circumstances
And look for answers
To the riddles of life
That haunt our living
And fill our dreams.
And so the play goes on.
