Now is the pivot point:
this time of re-considering
what we are and where it
is that we are going.

Now is the time of
recognition, for we inhabit
this rock with each other,
alone for all we know,
and being together
flung in space,
vulnerable,
is all we possess.

Now is the first day of
futures we are making,
and what are our plans for
construction for what
can never be fully known?

We are not above or below,
not more and not less,
and in this instant in earth’s
long history, we may be
no more than a passing day,
as all our empires turn
to dust and our grand stories
of success become echoes
in the flighty winds.

Now is the moment to stop
and stand on each other’s
shoulders,
united,
and look ahead
with a longer view.
