I am a man.
Trapped as a man.
Caught by stories
told once and again.
Over and over,
and held by my balls until
I cry.
Yes, I cry.
I am a man.
I can’t tell you the truth
about who I am.
For I am caged as a man:
an animal wild that
has been tamed.
So ask me this: what is it
that you see?
I see life in front of me
and shame behind,
and words around that
tell me who I should be
and what my body
must become.
