I will look into the face of hate

and speak clear words of peace,

and I will not look away and

let fear become a dark shroud,

but instead, in the white light,

I will stand face-to face and,

gazing into eyes that see resolve,

say that there is a better way,

for we are human and we share

birth, and life, and family, and

community, and death, all together

in this place, and in this resolution

there is the embryo of hope as we

search for a future beyond the

awful terror and violence of hate.
