Off track

We are told to stay in our lane,
go the straight and narrow way,
see the attainable goal ahead,
and we believe it like a gospel
spoken by the mighty godhead.

But what if I was to say to you
that I want to veer and swerve
and go off track, drive backwards,
and take the risk of a crash?

What if I was to say to you I know
longer care about the narrow way
and want instead to wander,
discovering now glorious paths,
unchartered and maybe dangerous,
and do burnouts in the carpark,
for there is no right way,
only the primrose trail?
