I am not jigsaw piece
to be positioned in some order
not of my making,
no,
I am a feeling being filled with hope
and doubts, some told and some hidden,
and I am a person of thought
asking questions and giving opinions about
the state of the world.

I am not a number in a line of numbers,
for I have a name, and I desire a
life that I choose to live,
even if you disagree or
think it should be this other way.

I am here now and I want to be me,
as this thinking, feeling body and mind,
not a construction of someone else’s
imagination or desire, and I am free as
far as I can be: free to live this
life and find my way and author the
person I choose to be.
