I have had refusal,
been pulled down,
snubbed and rejected,
and suffered
the slings and arrows of
outrageous fortune,
but still, even so,
even now, I am determined,
to keep on this path
I have chosen,
and forge this intrepid crimson way
because it is what brings me
joy and challenge, even in the
face of naysayers and
those who close me off
and never say why, as if it’s
too hard to tell the truth,
but the truth is that I am
defiant, and even if I
am the bastard child
of fortune, still, ever,
even now, I will stand and
face whatever comes to me
as I come to it wielding glee.
