Can I say what I want?
Is that okay?
I want some tears-not too many,
just enough to wet some care.
And a smile that is infused
with a little joy, like the scent
of blossom when you open the door.
Not the cold wind,
nor the restless rustling of trees,
no, not that, for it brings a
chill to this warm heart that
has always searched for a place to stay.
This is what I want.
Not the exotic. Not all accoutrements
of what love is supposed to be.
Just a tear,
and a smile,
and the warmth of a hug,
and a word of desire given
to show that I belong
and this is where I should stay.
