I want to cut this heart
from out my chest and
soften it in a marinade
of peace so that when I
place it back again, it will
not be part of hate but beat
in synchrony with empathy and
pump strong the vital blood of
tenderness and fill this body
with the energy needed to resist
the hostility of a divided world.
