There are some that despise
individualism and approve the
rhetoric of the collective voice
and the wise ways of the creed
as a means to remedy mis-directions
and wrongs that plague humanity.

If individualism is merely self-interest
with little regard for anyone else,
then it is to be scorned indeed,
but if we mean liberty, freedom
of expression, being a person
with passion and not wanting to
be suppressed for who you are
and what you choose to say,
then this is worthy individualism
to be embraced, defended and praised.

Let’s not be fooled by those who
think that answers lie just in the
collective, for most change and great
ideas, most innovation and leaps ahead
were formed in the bosom of those who
wanted to be creative, daring, unique
and different, despite resistance,
even attempts to hold them back.
