We have not reached the golden
pinnacle, and not stopped
evolving, even though it
seems we are at the height
of god’s creation, nor are we
progressing towards some
utopian future, for we have
no right to believe that our
stay on this planet will be
any more than any other
species that dominated for
a time and then went extinct.

We, as a species, took pride
in conquering, but we also
loved virtue, and it continues
to temper this urge to plunder
the world and control others,
but what if this evolution is
to a state of being beyond
morality, away from all that
now makes us fully human?

What if our evolution is to
world with creatures that are
not human at all, and amplify
only a part of what we have
in this time of the anthropocene,
only the part that enables survival,
only the part of the technological,
only the ruthless efficiency and
precision that is beyond art, feeling,
compassion, spirituality and belonging?
