We must find our future hope together
beyond ancient oppressive religious texts
that serve only to take away freedoms
and disguise adherence as meaning.

We must go to the certain strength of
our humanity and the potential good that
lies within, not to the rigid measure of some
ominous being whose cruelty is justified.

We must see our future in the delicate ground
of this planet on which we live and survive,
not in some far-off place of no substance
in which our hopes and dreams are denied.
