It has long been said
that truth is relative or
that truth is universal
and thus obligatory
according to some
ancient obscure creed.
The first diminishes the
power of truth from
those who have truth
to tell, and the second
makes truth beyond the
person, which is never
the case, for truth only
has meaning in terms
of each person’s life.
Let us say, then, that
truth is a flower in a
field of flowers and
that each flower is
distinct and has its
own shape and scent ,
and as all the wondrous
flowers come together
as a grand field, so the
common truth that makes
this beautiful shifting scene
can authenticaly be found.
