You know it has always
been NO since the Europeans
arrived and said YES.

NO has always been the answer
without any question,
like an parent to a naughty child.

No one should be surprised by NO,
for it is the expected answer
for those who cannot face the
difficult past
and are only concerned
with what is now,
with the narrow pocket
that is their lives.

NO protects the status quo,
and is about what has always been.
NO is about silence.
NO is an emply container
with nothing inside.

When the first fleet sailed
into harbour it carried NO,
among its supplies.
NO has been with us
