As the bombs fall
like poison rain,
and fear descends
like a wave on both sides,
what is there left
but misery, poverty,
oppression and no gain.

As the sky lights up
and the terror brings pain,
we all watch stunned in
horror as the ordinary
person gives their life
for no cause at all.

Ideology is having it way,
and stealing happiness
and freedom from
enemy and friend alike ,
from all who stand
in its bitter inevitable way .

And still the fighting goes
on as a fatalism that
cannot be stopped till
rubble and death are
the only tangible things
left in this pointlessness.
