I would rather make
an imperishable impression
than be impressive,
for an impression lasts,
but being impressive fades
with time’s declension,
and with the next
more impressive one
that comes along.

This impression, like an
image burnt into oak,
stays as testimony
to the good done,
to the person realigned,
to the love wrought
through the influence
that a life can bring.
