Many issues are not worth
fighting for, and all issues are
not worth dying for,
for in death
there is no fight anymore.

Death is a convenient ruse
and a tactic to create
suppression.

But these are worth fighting for:
The right to be free and not
bound up in chains, real or symbolic.
The right to be who you are truthfully
without oppression.
The right to be safe and not
subject to violence and intimidation.
The right to express an opinion
without ridicule or censorship.

I shall stand for these rights
for they are non-negotiable.
I shall lift my open hand in
defiance for what is fundamental.

This is not political or about
any system but grounded in
what it really means to be human:
a life lived in promise to the full.
