The great lantern in the sky
has directed and sustained
all of life, all that is here diverse,
and all that will ever be after.

There is no other certainty
such as this: no god or belief,
no wishful dreams or pondering
about what is beyond this vale.

Only this certainty ever remains:
this lantern that rises and falls,
and with its energy brings life
to all including us who dream.
