On turbulent days
when the hidden dark
edge of the universe
seems to triumph
and you feel like
there is some sinister
conspiracy, concocted
in dim back rooms,
to rob you of the peace
that you very much seek,
it is important to find
the serenity and calm
like the flatness of the
bay on a windless day,
and to know that while
the waves may at times
be whipped to a frenzy,
the water beneath
runs profoundly deep.
