Where is the critical mind that we
all need in this miasma of apprehension
and fear in which lives exclusion, prejudice
and suspicion of progress and change?

Where is the critical mind in the avalanche
of misinformation and deceit that is
sweeping the world and no one seems to know
how to hold it back in the (mis)information age?

The critical mind is with you,
with me,
with all of us who
stop to care about the shape
of the world and life.

But let it be known that
the critical mind is of
no use at all if it
sits pretty on the shelf,
for it needs to be taken from its case
and put in our hands and used
to crack open all that
holds humanity back from
being rational, caring, inclusive,
supportive, open,
democratic and fair.
