In our modern world, let compassion arise
as a balm for wounds and souls in strife,
constructed in empathy, dreaming bridges,
kindling the warm flame of caring hearts,
and reviving love where it is nearly dead.

Let compassion be the lighthouse guiding
all we do and think, though shadows fall,
for in its light we are directed to our best
selves that look beyond the narrow way of
self-interest to a future splendid for us all.
